K9 DOG TRAINING
Training Dogs by Kindness, Praise, Respect and Care
I have been training dogs for the past 15 years including teaching, dog obedience and working dog training.
As part of my service with the Merseyside police I was attached to the forces police dog section for 10 years where I gained considerable experience of all aspects of dog training. During this time I personally handled two German shepherd police dogs.
In 1998 the force selected me to attend a 5 week residential police dog instructers course at the Lancashire constabulary police dog training centre at Hutton, Preston. During this time I successfully completed a classroom presentation skills course and a Home Office police dog instructors course. This qualified me to fully train and assess working police dogs.
My aim is to inform and show owners how to train their dogs, using positive, kind, fair and effective methods and to create a balanced bond between dog and owner through trust and respect, rather than fear and domination.
Training should be relaxed and fun. Both dog and owner learn in a calm and friendly enviroment and it should be an enjoyable experience for both. |
